The 3rd China-Japan Joint Workshop on Positron Science (JWPS2017) was held on June 9–11, 2017 at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, China. 96 researchers, including 35 students, from China and Japan participated in the workshop in which 35 talks and 41 posters were presented. The speakers introduced the latest research results across a wide range of positron science related topics, and intensive discussions among the participants continued throughout the workshop sessions and into the social gatherings each evening.
This workshop was the third in the series. The first workshop, JWPS2012, was held in November 2012 at Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, and aimed to gather together scientists working in China and Japan at the forefront of research on positron science in order to share information on the most recent progress in relevant fields. One year later, a second workshop, JWPS2013, was held at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), in Tsukuba, Japan. These China-Japan joint workshops provide valuable opportunities for exchanging ideas and the discussion of a wide range of subjects including positron science, material science developed/analyzed by positron techniques, and measurement techniques, etc. In particular, the workshops provide a good opportunity to promote international exchange between young researchers in positron science, thus making an important contribution to the future development of this research field.
The high quality of the contributions at JWPS2017, reflects the high-level of research activities both in China and Japan in recent years and augers well for the further progress of positron science in the Asian area in the future.
We would like to again thank to all participants and management/operations staff of the workshop.
